Please urge the Oratory of St. Joseph to remove from its exhibit this blasphemous Manger scene where the Blessed Mother’s purity is sullied.

Dear child of Mary:

It’s tragic that the Oratory of St. Joseph, in Montreal, has a Nativity Scene on display…

SHOCKING – Read with caution:

. . .where Mary’s blue-sky sweater is falling off, showing her bare left shoulder and arm, a portion of her back, and exposing the strap and part of the bra that covers her left breast.

The Oratory Museum is hosting Manger scenes from around the world. However, one set from the United States is blasphemous and greatly offensive to God and the honour of Mary Immaculate.

In a posted notice, exhibit staff explain that “the artist leads us to think how a simple immigrant couple might manage with their new-born in a strange place.”

But San Diego, California producers Wright Brothers, Inc. (dba Gorilla Goodies) describe the artist’s intent differently. They have been marketing the crèche since 2016 as the “Hipster Nativity Set.” It is currently for sale online for USD$59.95. The producer’s description is more accurate.

But as I said above, the Blessed Mother’s sweater is falling off, showing her bare left shoulder and arm, a portion of her back, and exposing the strap and part of the bra that covers her left breast.

This portrayal of Mary Most Holy is not just irreverent.  It is blasphemous!

Please join the reparation-protest and sign the petition to stop it.

The Blessed Mother is wearing what seem to be black yoga pants, sneakers, and sneaker socks.  In her left hand, the Mother of God holds what appears to be a large Starbucks or Panera Bread latte.  Her nails have red polish.  With her left hand, the Virgin of Virgins flashes a peace sign while pursing her lips into a duck face (in selfie slang this is also called the “Kissy Face” and is meant to express, “Okay, you know I’m sexy”) for the selfie picture St. Joseph is taking with his smartphone.

It is an outrage to Mary’s honour and purity to portray her this way. It is blasphemous!

Please join the reparation-protest and sign the petition.  Proclaim Our Lady’s spotless purity!

St. Joseph’s extra long pants, perhaps chinos, are folded up into cuffs. He sports a denim jacket, a lumberjack-look beard, and a man bun. His bare feet are in stark contradiction with the latest model iPhone he is using to shoot the selfie.

The traditional-looking Baby Jesus in the manger leaves no doubt in the viewer’s mind that this is indeed the Holy Family and the Bethlehem stable.  But with its solar panels, this is no ordinary stable.

The shepherd boy is not adoring the Baby Jesus but snap chatting the Nativity with his Tablet, while earbuds seem to be streaming music into his ears.  A sheep next to him wears a Christmas sweater.

The Three Kings didn’t arrive on camels or horses, but Segways and the Amazon boxes they carry contain their gifts.  Ponytailed Baltazar wears a yellow sweater, shorts, and pink sneakers.  The two other kings use sunglasses, skinny jeans that don’t quite reach the ankles, and sneakers.

Making their intent clear, Gorilla Goodies state on their website: “It’s crazy to think that the Wisemen followed a star in the sky to find Jesus, rather than using Google Maps, but who are we to judge?  These Wisemen arrive to the birth of Jesus in style, rocking their favorite hipster outfits, and tricked out segways.”

This postmodern portrayal of the birth of Jesus is blasphemous!

The California producers claim sales are brisk and that they have sold thousands of these blasphemous Manger sets.

This is outrageous, and in response, devout Catholics are urged to sign the protest petition.

Please petition the Oratory of St. Joseph Rector to remove the blasphemous Manger Scene immediately.  Please urge California producer Gorilla Goodies to discontinue production and marketing.

Why mock Jesus, Mary, and Joseph?

St. Jerome teaches, “A dog barks in his owner’s defense, and will I remain silent when God is blasphemed?”

Let’s express our prayerful protest! Sign this protest petition.
